Heifer calves treated with IVOMEC 1% Injection had improved weight gains in the first year, extending through their second grazing season. |

In this study, heifer calves were vaccinated against lungworm infection, matched by weight and allocated between two groups:
- Group 1 Controls - antiparasitic treatment given as needed
- Group 2 was treated with IVOMEC 1% Injection at 3, 8, and 13 weeks after turnout
The cattle were housed at the end of the first season. In spring, both groups shared a pasture. No antiparasitic treatments were administered during the second year. The extra weight gain of the heifers treated with IVOMEC was maintained throughout the second grazing season.
Hollanders et al, 1992, Vet. Rec. 130:355-357
Heifers we re turned out on Day 0, housed together in the autumn (Day 150), turned out on Day 345 and followed to the end of the second grazing season.
Throughout the study, heifers treated with IVOMEC were heavier than the Controls that were treated when PGE (parasitic gastroenteritis) was apparent.
