Calves treated with the IVOMEC SR Bolus showed significantly better weight gain. |
|
Six studies conducted in Belgium (2), France (1), Germany (1), and the United Kingdom (2) evaluated the productivity benefits of turnout treatment of calves with the IVOMEC SR Bolus. In each trial, animals were matched by body weight and allocated between two treatment groups:
- Group 1 was left untreated as the Control group
- Group 2 was treated with the IVOMEC SR Bolus
In these studies, cattle treated with the IVOMEC SR Bolus were maintained on separate pastures from the Control cattle. In this way, for the cattle that received the IVOMEC SR Bolus, the benefit of controlling pasture contamination would not be reduced by exposure to pasture contaminated by untreated cattle. Control of parasite contamination of pasture is a major benefit of the IVOMEC SR Bolus that results in better weight gains. The better weight gains at the end of the grazing season are very clear from the combined results of the trials, with an overall significant improvement in average daily gain of more than 16%.
