Grazing Calves United States

Calves treated with EPRINEX Pour-On gained significantly more weight than calves treated with doramectin 1% injection.
United States

Missouri: This 167-day trial compared the effect of treating naturally infected beef calves with EPRINEX Pour-On to treatment with doramectin 1% injection. One hundred and twenty (120) Angus calves approximately 6 to 8 months old and weighing 136 to 274 kg were allocated among three treatment groups, detailed below. Calf weights were measured 2 days before the start of the trial and regularly throughout the study, wh i ch ended on Day 167.

  • Group 1 was left untreated as the Control group
  • Group 2 received doramectin administered subcutaneously at 200 mcg/kg on Days 0 and 56
  • Group 3 received EPRINEX Pour-On administered topically at 500 mcg/kg on Days 0 and 56

At Day 110, cattle treated with EPRINEX had gained 118.2 kg — significantly more (P< 0.05) than the 107.5 kg gained by animals treated with doramectin — and continued a weight gain advantage through the end of the trial. Cattle treated with EPRINEX gained 9.3 kg more than cattle treated with doramectin and 28.8 kg more than Controls.
