A programme of treatments of first season calves with EPRINEX, at turnout and again 8 weeks later, provided effective parasite control and allowed calves to gain more weight. |
|
To assess the efficacy of a programme of treatments with EPRINEX administered to first season cattle, 20 mixed breed heifers, aged between 11 and 27 months were matched by body weight and randomly allocated between two treatment groups.
- Group 1 was an untreated control group
- Group 2 received EPRINEX at the time of turnout to pasture and 8 weeks later.
Immediately after turnout, cattle were grazed as two separate groups on equivalent pastures for 169 days. Over that period, the cattle treated with EPRINEX had lower egg counts and gained an ave rage of 95.3 kg, versus 74.5 kg for the untreated control calves.
